Yarn Stash

Today I would like to tell you where do I keep my stash of yarn. You see last year my hubby and I were walking in the city of Alexandria, we love Old Town, and we passed a store that sells antiques from all around the world and as a display they had a beautiful piece of furniture that I thought it was perfect for my yarn, but it was $ 2000! Apparently my hubby has a good memory because for Christmas he gave me a big surprise! One day I came from work and the upstairs office door was closed with a sign that said Do not enter, I had no idea what was the reason behind this. On Christmas Eve at midnight he took me upstairs and opened the door and there it was the piece of furniture that I’ve been wanting for a long time! The story behind this particular piece of furniture that V got for me is that it was part of the front desk of a hotel on the 1920’. It was for sale and it was very similar to the expensive one we saw. So, when he bought it he took to his work and painted it and repaired it for me. I think the fact that he took all that time and effort to make it look like the one I wanted was priceless! He left it perfect, I melted like an ice cube on the desert, imagine I my heart was paralyzed! He is a great gift picker!
Alright, it's time for me to go.
Have a wonderful day, thank you for stopping by.
Hugs

My addictions

I love tea and everything related to it. I like to collect different types of tea, teapots, tea cups and little accessories. The truth is that I have a lot of tea but I have to admit that I've ran out of my favorite one which is Earl Grey.  I think tea feeds the soul sometimes, because we drink it when we are happy, and sad, and when it's cold and when we are talking to our best friend or our mom. If you have a cold you drink tea with lemon and it the morning you can have it with a slice of cold pizza! Tea is always there.
I used to drink tea with my dad when he couldn't sleep at 3 in the morning and we ate sweet cookies without my mom knowing, he loved it because we talked about life and dreams. And when I slept over my mom's we had tea before going to bed

Changing the subject here is the bottle cozy that I made to take my water to the gym. It's actually very practical and I like it. I don't know why I'm into cozies now it seems that everything needs one! Lol
I hope you have a wonderful evening, thank you for stopping by
 As always hugs
and we would chat holding hands until falling asleep. Maybe that's why I like tea so much.

Exploring

 Good afternoon Everybody!

Well this weekend was nice a little sad because Father’s day you know, but surrounded by family and friends.

On Saturday Hubby and I were supposed to go to my friend’s house but the weather was really bad, like a Tornado watch so we decided to stay home and watched a movie. I decided to start a crochet project that I had on mind for a while, I’ve forgotten how quick crochet could be! I started the project in the evening while watching a movie with my hubby, and before going to bed it was almost done!
So I made a bottle (of wine)Cozy! And I love it! I made up the pattern as I was going and as usual when you this is always fun. My friend saw and asked me if I could make one for her, so I’ll have implement the pattern again.

Now I’m making a water bottle holder, just because when I come to work in the morning I bring my purse, my computer and my water and it’s always kind of uncomfortable to carry, so I think that if I can use something to hang it will work.

Out of topic when I listen to Indie/Indie Folk music it makes me think of Iceland (which I’ve never been there) and it makes me want to knit think of sheeps and hobbit houses! I know right? You are allow to laugh with me!
I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll keep dreaming because is free!
Hugs to you

of cakes and knitting

Good afternoon! I hope you are having a wonderful day!
Today I want to share with a potpourri of topics. First I wanted to share a picture of a fruit tart that my mother made yesterday, (remember that my mom lives in Argentina and I only get to see her once a year, I love her with all my heart, bones, spirit anything and everything for her! Lol) well she said that she dedicated this tart to me!
You see my mom’s dream was always to have a pastry shop, is never too late right? I think it looks beautiful and I posted the pics on Facebook and she was the happiest when my friends and family left comments about her cake! She is too cute!

Well knitting wise I’m making several items at the same time, who can have just one knitting project right? I’m making an asymmetrical scarf, a pillow, a hat and a mini sweater! And I was thinking about starting a little cardigan for my niece.
I’m using a yarn for the scarf that I found at store called Tuesday morning and it’s merino wool, it’s super soft and the quality is wonderful for the price. I think I’ll have to go for more colors! I love it!

Well  I have a lot of work to do (like real work) so I ‘ll have to go now.

Many hugs to you and I wish we could have slice of my mom’s cake together with some Earl Grey tea

Discovering colors

Good morning! I hope you are having a wonderful day.
This morning I woke up thinking about photography and how much I used to enjoy it. I never took classes but I just like to capture those special moments or those things when it feels like you are the only one looking at them.
This morning I took some pics of one of my projects, I noticed how similar the color was to the flowers on my deck and I felt in love!
It's funny how sometimes we don't think about nature, yarn and color combinations. Have you ever experienced spending hours trying to look for the right color combination for your new pattern? I have! and then all the sudden there is just in front of you the perfect color combination... coming from mother nature! I think that from now on I'll be very careful when choosing my colors.
The project that you see here with my flowers is something that I started last night experimenting with a new stitch. We'll see how it comes out.

And one more picture of a flower that I took and I was able to capture all the details and I love it!
See later and hugs for you!

Lucky Saturday

Happy Saturday everybody!
Well I had so much to do, so many things have happened in this past year, happy and sad moments.
I'm just recollecting myself and trying to rebuild what I had with you all. I hope you still remember me!
About a month ago I received about 3 emails on my Ravelry, from users asking me for a pattern that I used to sell on my Esty shop for dolls. Since that moment I started thinking about my blog again, about how much I enjoyed writing about knitting and crafts and sharing pictures with you all.
I tried to access the blog several times but I had a really hard time with the password! Today I was finally able to access it and here I am.
I have two important things to to share with you guys one sad and one happy and even though is related to my family and my personal life I feel like sharing, OK, the sad one is that my dear father past away last July, it was really hard times for my family and for me, if you know a little about me you know how I felt about my dad. Then I have happy news, On May of 2014 my first niece Isabella was born! and she just filled the whole family with love and joy and made our hearts a little lighter, because when she smiles she just brights the room. The good news is that my dad got to meet her and hold her! He was delighted to be a grandpa!

Knitting

Knitting has always been here. It's my therapy. I have made several items that I'll share with you until I catch up. As you can imagine I knit for my niece a  lot I have a wonderful excuse to make tiny and cute projects know!

Here are some of them

Hearts

Flurries
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I hope that you came visit me!
Many hugs
Sabrina
